After gaining a reputable position in the smartphone segment, Samsung eyes on capturing the market of tablets with its Galaxy series.

While Samsung has been trying to replace Apple’s tablets, HP has come up with its Omni series of tablets to stand against Samsung. So, can the HP Omni 10 tablet find a place beside the Samsung Galaxy Tab S in the competitive market? Let’s find out!

Display

As the name speaks, the HP tablet features a display screen of 10.10 inches, while the Galaxy Tab S has an 8.4-inch screen. Offering larger screen, the Omni 10 tablet renders better platform to the users for viewing documents, images and videos. When it comes to resolution, the Samsung device comes loaded with 1600×2560 pixels, in comparison to HP Omni’s 1920×1200 pixels. Overall, the HP gadget provides better display screen configurations.

Winner: HP Omni 10

Hardware

The HP Omni tablet runs on a 1.46 GHz Quad Core processor, while the Galaxy Tab is powered by more powerful, 2.3 GHz Quad Core processor. Present in the Omni 10 tab is the internal storage of 32 GB and external storage capacity of 32 GB. On the contrary, the internal memory of the Samsung tablet is 16 GB and 32 GB; as two versions of tablet is available. The storage of both the Galaxy Tab versions is expandable up to 128 GB. Coming to the RAM, the HP device and Galaxy Tab S have 2 GB and 3 GB RAM respectively.

Winner: Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4

Operating System

The Omni 10 tablet features the 8.1 Operating System. This is a bold offering from the company in a market where the majority of tablets come loaded with the OS. The Samsung device is an example as it runs on the Android 4.4.2 (KitKat).

As the two platforms are quite different, picking one from the two depends upon the preferences of users.

Winner: Tie

Camera

The two devices land on the same platform when it comes to photography. Both the devices offer an 8 MP rear camera with several enhancement features. However, the rear camera of the Samsung Galaxy tablet is accompanied by an LED Flash, which is not present in the HP tablet. The front camera of the Galaxy tab and Omni 10 are 2.1 MP and 2 MP respectively.

Winner: Samsung Galaxy Tab S

Verdict

With a considerable price difference of $120 between the two devices, the HP Omni tablet is cheaper of the two devices as it can be acquired by spending $300. Having slightly less powerful features than the Samsung Galaxy tab, the Omni 10 gadget can be regarded as the more reasonable choice. The Galaxy tab offers you an additional LED Flash with the rear camera and barely powerful processor for the added $120. Alternatively, you get a smaller device by opting for the Samsung tablet. Therefore, it can be concluded that the HP Omni 10 tablet fares remarkably well against the Galaxy tab for the offered price.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 Review
Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 Review Lisa Gade reviews the Samsung Galaxy Tab S, Samsung's latest high line tablet for mid-2014. We look at the 8.4" model in this review, and Samsung also offers a 10.5" Tab S. The Tab S 8.4 is nearly identical to the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4, but it has two improvements: a Super AMOLED display for richer, more accurate colors and better contrast; and a fingerprint scanner embedded in the home button. The tablet runs on the Exynos 5 Octa CPU with 4 1.9GHz high power cores and 4 1.3GHz low power cores. It has 3 gigs of RAM, 16 or 32 gigs of storage, a microSD card slot, dual band WiFi 802.11AC, Bluetooth 4.0 and a GPS with GLONASS. It runs Android 4.4 KitKat with Samsung's TouchWiz UI and includes their multi-window multitasking and Pro apps bundle including Hancom Office. The 16 gig WiFi Tab S 8.4 costs $399, and the 10.5" Tab S with 16 gigs of storage is $499. They're direct competitors to the iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina Display. * Read our full written review here: http://www.mobiletechreview.com/tablets/Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-S.htm PT14M2S
